What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Southern Steer Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for the performance of anyone designated to manage the operation of their Southern Steer Business. This means the franchisee must carefully monitor the manager's actions and ensure they adhere to Southern Steer's standards and procedures.

This responsibility extends to ensuring that the Designated Manager or Operating Principal has satisfactorily completed the Initial Training Program. The franchisee must also make sure that at least one person who has completed the Initial Training Program or is certified by Southern Steer is managing the business at all times. If a new Designated Manager or Operating Principal is appointed, the franchisee is responsible for covering the costs and expenses associated with their training, including fees, travel, living expenses, and compensation.

Furthermore, the franchisee is responsible for the operation of their Southern Steer Business, including controlling, supervising, and managing all employees, agents, and independent contractors. This encompasses ensuring a sufficient number of trained personnel are on duty, that employees meet appearance standards, and that the business operates efficiently. The franchisee's role is to directly supervise the Southern Steer Business and determine how it is run, subject to Southern Steer's rights to approve certain matters, inspect the business, and enforce its rights to protect the System.

Southern Steer's rights to approve, inspect, and enforce are intended to protect its interest in the System and benefit Southern Steer, its affiliates, and other franchisees. These rights do not establish control over the franchisee's business operations, nor do they create a duty for Southern Steer to take control. The franchisee retains the primary responsibility for the day-to-day operation and management of their Southern Steer Business.
