What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Southern Steer's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must receive five business days' written notice before any proposed Local Advertising Cooperative meeting. This cooperative is formed when the franchisor deems it necessary, typically when multiple Southern Steer locations operate in the same market area. The cooperative's purpose is to conduct and administer media advertising, promotion, marketing, and public relations to benefit all Southern Steer businesses within that market.
Each Southern Steer business in the designated market area becomes a member of the Local Advertising Cooperative, with each member holding one vote for each Southern Steer business they own and operate. A quorum, consisting of a majority of all members, is required to convene any meeting. Decisions are made by a majority vote of the members present at these meetings, and all meetings are conducted according to Robert's Rules of Order.
This requirement ensures that franchisees have adequate time to prepare for and participate in cooperative meetings, where important decisions about local marketing strategies and expenditures are made. It also allows franchisees to stay informed and have a voice in the direction of advertising and promotional activities that directly impact their businesses. The written notice helps maintain transparency and fairness within the cooperative, ensuring that all members are aware of upcoming meetings and have the opportunity to contribute to the decision-making process.
