What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Southern Steer Franchise Disclosure Document, the definition of an 'Approved Supplier' does include consideration of the supplier's business reputation. Specifically, Southern Steer requires that any supplier, vendor, or distributor approved to supply products or services to franchisees must meet certain standards. These standards include not only conforming to Southern Steer's specifications for the products or services themselves but also having a satisfactory business reputation.

Southern Steer explicitly states that the franchisor must determine that the supplier's business reputation, along with other factors like quality standards, delivery performance, and credit rating, are satisfactory before granting approval. This means that Southern Steer assesses the trustworthiness and reliability of potential suppliers as part of its approval process.

This requirement protects the Southern Steer brand by ensuring that franchisees source their supplies from reputable vendors. It also helps maintain consistency and quality across all franchise locations, as the franchisor has vetted the suppliers for their reliability and ethical business practices. For a prospective franchisee, this means they can be confident that the suppliers they are required to use have been evaluated not only for the quality of their products but also for their business conduct.
