What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Southern Steer Franchise Disclosure Document, if you require additional training, you will be responsible for covering all associated travel expenses. These travel expenses encompass a broad range of costs, including travel, transportation, food, lodging, telephone calls, automobile rental, and all other related expenses. This means that in addition to the $400 per day, per person training fee, a franchisee must also budget for these travel-related costs.

This policy is fairly standard in the franchise industry, as franchisors often pass on the direct costs of additional training to franchisees. The breadth of expenses included under "travel expenses" is notable, as it extends beyond just transportation and accommodation to also include items like telephone calls and car rentals. This could potentially add a significant cost to the additional training, depending on the location and duration of the training.

Prospective Southern Steer franchisees should carefully consider the potential need for additional training and factor in these travel expenses when assessing the overall cost of the franchise. It would be prudent to discuss with Southern Steer under what circumstances additional training is typically required and to get an estimate of the potential travel costs involved based on the training location.
