What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Punch King Fitness's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must provide a renewal certificate for their insurance policy no later than 10 days before the expiration date of each policy. Franchisees are also required to initially provide evidence of insurance at least 10 days before beginning operation of their Punch King Fitness franchise.

Maintaining adequate insurance coverage is a standard requirement in franchising to protect both the franchisee and the franchisor from potential liabilities. The specific types and amounts of coverage required by Punch King Fitness, including General Liability of $1,000,000, are detailed in the FDD. Franchisees must also maintain Workman's Compensation, Unemployment Compensation, disability insurance, social security, and other similar insurance coverage in such amounts as may now or hereafter be required by any applicable law.

It is important to note that each required liability insurance policy must name Punch King Fitness as an additional insured. Additionally, the insurance provider must agree to give Punch King Fitness at least 30 days' notice before any cancellation, modification, or amendment to the policy. This ensures that Punch King Fitness is aware of any changes that could affect their liability coverage related to the franchisee's operations.

Prospective franchisees should carefully review the insurance requirements outlined in Item 8 of the FDD and consult with an insurance professional to ensure they can obtain the necessary coverage. Failing to maintain adequate insurance can result in a breach of the franchise agreement and potential legal and financial repercussions.
