What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Precision Door Service FDD, when an assignee takes over a franchise, they unconditionally assume and accept the assignment of the franchised business. This includes the franchise rights and all associated duties, obligations, and liabilities of the assignor.

Specifically, the assignee agrees to be bound by all of the assignor's responsibilities. This encompasses all customer obligations, including warranty work and service plan obligations. This means the new franchisee is responsible for fulfilling any outstanding commitments the previous franchisee made to customers.

This transfer of responsibility is a standard practice in franchising. It ensures continuity of service for customers and protects the brand's reputation. Prospective franchisees should carefully evaluate the existing obligations of the franchise they are considering acquiring to fully understand their future responsibilities.
