We use manuals, workbooks, and other training aids during the training program. Kelly Wetzig, our Director of Training, has experience in all aspects of Shop operations and training given her tenure with the Potbelly brand and will supervise, or otherwise be involved in, franchisee training. Ms. Wetzig has worked in the Potbelly system for over 12 years.

According to Potbelly Sandwich Works' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Kelly Wetzig, the Director of Training, supervises or is otherwise involved in franchisee training. The training program for Potbelly Sandwich Works franchisees is held in a company shop GMTL (General Manager Training Location) that the training team assigns. Potbelly Sandwich Works uses manuals, workbooks, and other training aids during the training program.
After signing the Franchise Agreement, the Managing Owner will participate in a training program scheduled for approximately 6 weeks, in addition to a 4-day owner training course at a designated Potbelly Sandwich Works shop. This training must occur before the shop opens and focuses on the company's philosophy, system standards, and material aspects of operating a Potbelly Sandwich Works, excluding labor relations and employment practices. Required training attendees must complete the full training program for their respective roles and pass applicable operations and proficiency tests to the satisfaction of Potbelly Sandwich Works.
