In addition, in the course of the operation of your Petro Center, you or your Personnel may develop ideas, copyrightable works, concepts, methods, techniques or improvements ("Improvements") relating to your Petro Center, which you agree to disclose to us.
We will be deemed to own the Improvements and may use them and authorize you and others to use them in the operation of Petro Centers.
Improvements will then also constitute Confidential Information.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Petro Stopping Center Franchise Disclosure Document, Petro Franchise Systems LLC retains ownership of any improvements developed by a franchisee related to their Petro Stopping Center. The FDD specifies that any ideas, copyrightable works, concepts, methods, techniques, or improvements ('Improvements') developed by the franchisee or their personnel must be disclosed to Petro Franchise Systems LLC.
Petro Franchise Systems LLC is deemed to own these improvements and has the right to use them and authorize others to use them within the Petro Stopping Center network. This means that while a franchisee may innovate and create new methods or technologies within their location, the ownership and rights to those innovations ultimately belong to the franchisor.
This clause ensures that Petro Stopping Center can implement successful innovations across the entire franchise system, maintaining uniformity and quality. It also means that franchisees do not have exclusive rights to their own inventions within the Petro system and cannot prevent Petro Stopping Center from using or sharing those improvements with other franchisees.
