What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Petro Stopping Center Franchise Disclosure Document, Petro Stopping Center's consent to a transfer of the franchise agreement does not constitute a guarantee of the Petro Stopping Center's success. The document explicitly states that the consent to a transfer does not represent any assurance regarding the potential success of the Petro Stopping Center.
This means that if a franchisee decides to sell their Petro Stopping Center franchise to a new owner, Petro Stopping Center's approval of this transfer does not mean they are guaranteeing the new owner's success. Petro Stopping Center's decision to allow the transfer is based on the transferee meeting certain qualifications and agreeing to the terms of the franchise agreement, but it is not an endorsement of their future performance.
This is a standard practice in franchising, as franchisors need to maintain control over who operates their branded locations, but cannot predict or guarantee the success of any individual franchisee. Prospective franchisees should not interpret the franchisor's consent to a transfer as any indication of the location's or the new owner's likelihood of profitability.
