What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Nothing Bundt Cakes FDD, franchisees are responsible for ensuring proper security applications and controls are in place for their computer systems. This includes, but is not limited to, anti-virus software, complex passwords, and multi-factor authentication for logon accounts. Franchisees must also ensure their Bakery is compliant with all Payment Card Industry Date Security Standards (PCI DSS) requirements, as revised by the PCI Security Standards Council.
Nothing Bundt Cakes requires franchisees to install a designated Point of Sale (POS) system, which includes hardware and software components for recording sales, payments, inventory, and accounting data. All computer systems other than the POS Systems used in the Bakery must be a currently supported version of Microsoft Windows and not be end of life. Franchisees are also required to maintain high-speed internet access and must install the necessary hardware and software to provide Nothing Bundt Cakes with full and direct electronic access to all data, software systems, security camera footage, and related information.
These security measures are crucial for protecting sensitive customer and business data, maintaining the integrity of the Nothing Bundt Cakes system, and complying with industry standards. Franchisees bear the costs associated with these security measures, including software, hardware, and service contracts. Failing to implement these measures could expose the franchisee to potential data breaches, financial losses, and non-compliance penalties.
