You must satisfactorily complete the training program, including a brief phone sales class and short color test, before opening the Business, and your Designated Manager and Technical Manager must successfully complete the training program before assuming managerial responsibility.
We estimate that it will take approximately 60 days from the signing of the Franchise Agreement to open your Business. The actual length of time for you to open the Business, however, will depend upon your personal availability for training and commitment to the time required for obtaining necessary licenses. You must begin operating the Business within 120 days from the date the Franchise Agreement is signed, or we have the right to terminate the Franchise Agreement.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Mr. Sandless Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must satisfactorily complete the initial training program before opening their business. This training, which lasts approximately 2-5 days, takes place at the Mr. Sandless headquarters in Aston, Pennsylvania, or with a franchisee of their choosing. The Designated Manager and Technical Manager must also successfully complete the training program before assuming their managerial responsibilities.
Mr. Sandless does not charge tuition fees for the initial training program for the franchisee, their Designated Manager, and Technical Manager, with a maximum of three trainees. However, the franchisee is responsible for covering all expenses incurred during training, including lodging, travel, transportation, and meals for themselves and their trainees. The training is provided under the supervision of certified system specialists, a certified local franchisee, Daniel J. Prasalowicz, or Gerald Rich, Jr., all of whom have between 10 and 35 years of experience in the subjects taught.
In addition to completing the training program, Mr. Sandless requires franchisees to begin operating their business within 120 days from the date the Franchise Agreement is signed. Failure to do so may result in the termination of the Franchise Agreement. The FDD also mentions an 'Opening Guide' that includes steps to open the business, such as organizing the business and home office, insuring the business, and setting up a business phone line.
