What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Mr. Sandless Franchise Disclosure Document, in North Dakota, the payment of the initial franchise fee, multiunit option fee, and any other initial payment is deferred. This means a new Mr. Sandless franchisee in North Dakota will not be required to pay these fees until all of Mr. Sandless's material pre-opening obligations have been satisfied and the franchisee's business is open and operating.
However, the FDD stipulates that while the payment is deferred, the franchisee must still execute the Franchise Agreement before starting site selection or beginning training. This ensures that both parties are legally bound by the agreement's terms before significant steps are taken to establish the franchise.
This deferral of fees is a significant benefit for prospective franchisees in North Dakota, as it reduces the initial financial burden and risk. It aligns the franchisor's interests with the franchisee's success, as Mr. Sandless is not paid until the franchisee is ready to open for business. This arrangement can provide added security and peace of mind for new franchisees as they begin their Mr. Sandless venture.
