What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Monicals Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not required to follow the advice given by the franchisor after opening their restaurant. While Monicals Pizza will periodically advise and offer general guidance via various methods, franchisees must use their own judgment to make business decisions and should not rely solely upon the franchisor's advice. This guidance is based on the franchisor's and other franchisees' experiences in operating Monicals Pizza restaurants and may include knowledge related to authorized services or products, operational methods, accounting procedures, and marketing and sales strategies.
Monicals Pizza may also make periodic visits to the franchised restaurant to provide assistance or guidance on operations and management. Following these visits, they may prepare written reports outlining suggested changes or improvements, as well as detailing any deficiencies. If a report is prepared, it will be provided to the franchisee. Monicals Pizza also makes available ongoing operations assistance and training as deemed necessary.
While franchisees are not obligated to follow all advice, they must adhere to specific requirements, such as spending a minimum amount on local advertising and promotion during the first three months of operation and spending at least 2% of the previous month's gross sales on advertising, promotions, and public relations each month. Additionally, franchisees must use approved advertising materials for local, grand opening, and cooperative advertising. Franchisees must also purchase, update, maintain, and use designated hardware and software programs. Therefore, while franchisees have autonomy in many business decisions, they must comply with certain operational and marketing standards set by Monicals Pizza.
