Do I automatically have the right to acquire additional Monicals Pizza franchises within my area of primary responsibility?

According to Monicals Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees do not automatically have the right to acquire additional franchises within their area of primary responsibility. To qualify for an additional Monicals Pizza franchise location, a franchisee must meet the franchisor's qualifications for new franchisees and pay a franchise fee.

This policy means that even if a franchisee has performed well and established a successful Monicals Pizza restaurant, they are not guaranteed the opportunity to expand within their existing territory. Monicals Pizza retains the discretion to decide who can open new locations, ensuring that all franchisees meet their current standards. This can be a disadvantage for existing franchisees looking to grow their business, as they must go through the same application process as a new applicant.

However, Monicals Pizza does offer a Development Agreement for those looking to develop multiple units. If a franchisee enters into a Development Agreement, they may be granted a development territory. So long as the developer meets the minimum development schedule, complies with all provisions of the Development Agreement and the Franchise Agreement, Monicals Pizza will not establish or operate, or license others to establish or operate, a Monicals Pizza restaurant or substantially similar business in the development territory. Furthermore, at the expiration of the Development Agreement, if the developer has complied with all terms and conditions, they will have a right of first refusal to develop, own, and operate any additional Monicals Pizza restaurants proposed for development inside of the development territory for one year.
