What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Moe's Southwest Grill's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the 'Required Trainees' for the Management Training Program include two managers and any other individuals that Moe's Southwest Grill designates. For the first two restaurants that a franchisee or their affiliates operate, there is no additional charge for these required trainees to attend the Management Training Program.

However, for the third and subsequent restaurants, the franchisee must pay the then-current Management Training Program fee for all required trainees to attend a single training session. Currently, this fee is $7,500 for each restaurant. Additional training fees apply if the franchisee elects to bring additional trainees (other than the required trainees), if the required trainees are trained in separate sessions, or if any required trainees fail to complete the program and re-enroll or are replaced with new trainees. In these cases, the franchisee must pay a reasonable training fee designated by Moe's Southwest Grill, which is currently $250 per trainee per day.

This means that while the initial training for key personnel is included for the first two locations, franchisees need to budget for ongoing training expenses as they expand. The cost can vary depending on the number of trainees, the need for repeat training, and any additional staff the franchisee chooses to include in the program. It is important for prospective franchisees to factor these potential training costs into their financial projections, especially if they plan to open multiple Moe's Southwest Grill locations.
