Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You must purchase and install, at your expense, all fixtures, furnishings, equipment (including a Computer System), décor and signs, as we direct. If we modify our menu, we may require you to purchase additional equipment to prepare and store new menu items. You may not install on or about your Restaurant any merchandise, furnishings, interior or exterior décor items, supplies, fixtures, equipment or utensils unless they have been approved by us in writing. You must purchase these items only from an Approved Supplier, unless we specify otherwise.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Moe's Southwest Grill's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must obtain written approval from the company before installing any utensils in their restaurant. This requirement is part of a broader set of rules governing the purchase and installation of various items, including merchandise, furnishings, interior or exterior décor items, supplies, fixtures, and equipment.

This stipulation ensures that all elements within the Moe's Southwest Grill restaurant align with the brand's standards and image. By requiring written approval, Moe's Southwest Grill maintains control over the aesthetic and functional aspects of the restaurant, ensuring consistency across all franchise locations. This helps protect the brand's reputation and customer experience.

The franchisee is obligated to purchase these approved items exclusively from approved suppliers, unless otherwise specified by Moe's Southwest Grill. This procurement process allows Moe's Southwest Grill to manage quality control and potentially benefit from negotiated purchasing arrangements with suppliers, ensuring franchisees receive products that meet the brand's standards.

For a prospective franchisee, this means that every detail, down to the utensils used in the restaurant, must be pre-approved. This may limit the franchisee's autonomy in selecting items based on personal preference or local availability, but it also provides assurance that the chosen items will meet Moe's Southwest Grill's standards and contribute to a consistent brand experience.
