What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Moe's Southwest Grill Franchise Disclosure Document, the Technology Fee is used to cover the costs incurred by Moe's Southwest Grill and its affiliates for technology-related products and services. This includes the development, implementation, upgrading, operation, maintaining, and supporting of any technology-related products, services, programs, systems, or platforms that Moe's Southwest Grill deems appropriate. The fee is designed to ensure franchisees have the necessary technological tools and support to operate efficiently.
The Technology Fee that Moe's Southwest Grill collects from franchisees will not exceed 110% of the actual costs and expenses related to these technology products or services. This implies that the fee is intended to be cost-recovery based, with a small allowance for overhead or unexpected expenses. Moe's Southwest Grill also retains the right to modify the Technology Fee and payment frequency, as well as add, delete, or modify the products, services, programs, systems, and platforms funded by the fee.
For a prospective franchisee, this means that a portion of their ongoing fees will be allocated to technology. While this ensures access to necessary technology, it also introduces a variable cost that could change over time. It is important for franchisees to stay informed about any modifications to the Technology Fee and the services it covers, as these changes could impact their operational costs and the technology they rely on to run their business. Franchisees should also note that Moe's Southwest Grill may replace or supplement other technology-related fees, such as the Ordering Support Fee, with the Technology Fee.
