What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Marble Slab Creamery Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for the wages of themselves and their employees while undergoing additional training programs and seminars, including remedial training. If Marble Slab Creamery determines that a restaurant is not being operated in accordance with the franchise agreement or manual, or if the franchisee is in material default, Marble Slab Creamery may require the franchisee and/or their personnel to complete additional training. This training can take place at Marble Slab Creamery's headquarters, the franchisee's restaurant, or another location designated by Marble Slab Creamery.
Marble Slab Creamery will provide instructors and training material for these programs. However, the franchisee or their employees are responsible for all other expenses, including transportation, lodging, meals, and wages. This means that if a franchisee or their employees are required to attend remedial training, the franchisee will have to cover not only the direct costs of the training (such as travel and accommodation) but also the wages of the individuals attending the training.
This requirement could pose a significant financial burden on franchisees, especially if the remedial training is extensive or requires multiple employees to attend. It is important for prospective franchisees to understand this obligation and factor it into their financial planning. Franchisees should also strive to operate their restaurants in compliance with the franchise agreement and manual to avoid the need for remedial training.
