What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Ledgers's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisor selects the members of the Franchisee Advisory Council (FAC). The FAC is composed of franchisees and advises Ledgers on operational and advertising policy. However, the document states that the FAC serves only in an advisory capacity.
Ledgers retains the power to form, change, or dissolve the advertising council at its discretion. This means that while franchisees may have input through the FAC, Ledgers ultimately controls the council's existence and composition.
For a prospective franchisee, this indicates that while there is a mechanism for franchisee input, Ledgers maintains control over the advisory process. Franchisees interested in joining the FAC should understand that their selection is at the discretion of Ledgers. This setup is fairly common in franchising, where the franchisor seeks franchisee feedback but retains ultimate decision-making authority.
