Has Ledgers filed a registration of its copyrights?

According to Ledgers's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, while Ledgers claims a copyright to its Operations Manual, marketing material such as website text, and other printed material, it has not presently filed a registration of those copyrights. Ledgers considers all of these items confidential and proprietary.

This means that while Ledgers asserts ownership of its materials, it has not taken the formal step of registering them with the U.S. Copyright Office. Registration provides certain legal advantages, such as the ability to sue for infringement and potentially recover statutory damages and attorney's fees. Without registration, Ledgers's ability to enforce its copyrights may be more limited.

As a Ledgers franchisee, you are required to keep this confidential information private, and upon termination of your Franchise Agreement, you must return the Operations Manuals and any confidential information to Ledgers. Ledgers states it has no duty to protect its copyrights or defend you against claims arising from your use of their copyrighted items. You are only authorized to use Ledgers's confidential information to perform your obligations under the Franchise Agreement.
