Besides submitting them to Ledgers for approval, what legal requirements must a Ledgers franchisee's advertising materials adhere to?

Ledgers Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You must use our advertising templates or, if you wish to use your own advertising materials, you may do so if:

    1. you submit them to us;
    1. they conform to the Manual;
    1. they adhere to federal, state and local law; and
    1. we approve them, in writing. If our written approval is not received within fourteen (14) days that we receive the request, then the material is deemed disapproved.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Ledgers' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee chooses to use their own advertising materials instead of the templates provided by Ledgers, the materials must adhere to federal, state, and local laws. Additionally, these materials must be submitted to Ledgers for approval and conform to the standards outlined in the Ledgers manual.

This means a Ledgers franchisee needs to ensure that any advertising they create independently complies with all applicable legal requirements, which can include regulations related to truth in advertising, data privacy, and any industry-specific rules. They also need to make sure the advertising aligns with Ledgers' brand standards and operational guidelines as detailed in the manual.

The franchisee must submit these materials to Ledgers for written approval. If approval is not received within fourteen days of Ledgers receiving the request, the advertising material is considered disapproved. This requirement ensures that all advertising associated with Ledgers maintains a consistent brand image and complies with legal standards, protecting both the franchisee and the overall brand reputation. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, allowing the franchisor to maintain quality control and brand consistency across all franchise locations.
