What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Learningrx's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Satellite Location Fee is not refundable under any circumstances. Item 5 states that upon signing the Satellite Location Addendum, a franchisee must pay a $5,000 Satellite Location Fee if the satellite location is outside of the territory. This fee is fully earned upon signing the addendum and is non-refundable. If the satellite location is within the territory, a reduced Satellite Location Fee of $2,400 is due only if the franchisee wants the satellite location listed on the Learningrx website. Item 7 also confirms that all fees and costs are non-refundable under all circumstances.
This means that a Learningrx franchisee who pays the Satellite Location Fee will not receive a refund, regardless of the circumstances. This is a standard practice in franchising, as initial fees are typically used to cover the franchisor's costs of setting up the franchisee and providing initial training and support.
The non-refundable nature of the Satellite Location Fee is an important consideration for prospective Learningrx franchisees. Franchisees should carefully consider their financial situation and business plan before committing to opening a satellite location, as they will not be able to recover the fee if they later decide to close the location or terminate the addendum.
It is important to note that while the Satellite Location Fee is non-refundable, a portion of the $5,000 fee paid for a satellite location outside of the territory may be applied towards a future franchise agreement within the territory. Specifically, $2,500 can be applied towards a future franchise agreement if approved by Learningrx in writing and potentially renewed annually.
