What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Jersey Mike's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee can designate a manager who, along with the franchisee's Controlling Principal, assistant manager, and shift supervisor, may be required to attend initial training. This designated manager is referred to as "Trainee 1" during the training phases.
For franchisees opening their first Jersey Mike's restaurant, the training requirements include three individuals (Trainees 1, 2, and 3) completing Phase 1, Trainee 1 completing Phase 2, and two individuals (Trainees 1 and 2) completing Phase 3. Additionally, Trainee 1 and 2 must participate in the grand opening of another Jersey Mike's Restaurant. For franchisees opening an additional restaurant, the training requirements are similar, with flexibility in who completes Phase 2 (Trainee 1 or 2).
Jersey Mike's retains the right to modify the training program and adjust requirements based on the franchisee's experience. All training-related expenses, including travel and accommodation, are the franchisee's responsibility. Furthermore, the franchisee must ensure that at least one individual has completed Phases 1, 2, and 3, at least one has completed Phases 1 and 3, and at least one has completed Phase 1 at all times during the operation of the restaurant. If a trained employee leaves, the franchisee must arrange for a replacement to complete the necessary training phases within 120 days, potentially incurring a training fee of up to $2,500.
