What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Jack In The Box's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if your Development Agreement is terminated or not renewed, you have specific obligations as outlined in Section 16 of both the Single Unit and Multi-Unit Development Agreements. These obligations include ceasing the establishment of any new Jack In The Box restaurants. You must also stop operating any restaurant for which a Franchise Agreement has not been formally executed.

In addition to ceasing operations, you are obligated to fulfill any outstanding payment obligations to Jack In The Box. Furthermore, you must continue to comply with all covenants stipulated in the Development Agreement, which may include certain operational standards or other contractual commitments.

These post-termination obligations are fairly standard in franchising, designed to protect the brand and ensure a smooth transition. Prospective Jack In The Box franchisees should carefully review Section 16 of the Development Agreement to fully understand the scope of these obligations and how they might impact their business operations upon termination or non-renewal.
