What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Jack In The Box Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase or lease and maintain specific technology-related items to operate the restaurant and engage with customers digitally. This includes computer hardware and software, high-speed communications equipment and services, dedicated telephone and power lines, modems, printers, firewalls, mobile app-related equipment, digital menu boards, communications devices, audio/visual equipment and software systems, technology services and platforms, and other technology-related equipment, services, software, and/or requirements. These items are collectively referred to as the "Technology System."
The Technology System is used for various functions, including making and recording sales, tracking sales and customer data, and managing restaurant operations. The franchisee bears the cost and expense of acquiring and maintaining the Technology System. Jack In The Box also needs access to all data and information maintained on these systems.
To ensure the Technology System operates efficiently, Jack In The Box franchisees must keep it in good maintenance and repair at their own expense. Franchisees are also obligated to promptly install any additions, changes, modifications, substitutions, or replacements to the Technology System as directed by Jack In The Box, provided the company determines it will be economical or otherwise beneficial to the system. Franchisees must also comply with Jack In The Box's standards and procedures for mobile apps, social media, and other technology-related aspects, as established and modified by the company.
