What agreements must I sign for each Jack In The Box restaurant I will operate?
Jack_In_The_Box Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
Before we will approve you to develop or operate a Jack in the Box restaurant, you must complete an application package and sign a non-disclosure agreement. If you will be developing a new Jack in the Box restaurant, you also must sign a Single Unit Development Agreement (Exhibit G-1). If you request and we agree to permit you to develop two or more Jack in the Box Restaurants in a geographic area approved by us, you must sign a Multi-Unit Development Agreement (Exhibit G-2). Unless noted, the Single Unit Development Agreement and the Multi-Unit Development Agreement are referred to as the "Development Agreement". You should not obtain any interest in a site for a Jack in the Box restaurant until you have entered into a Development Agreement with us and we have approved the site in writing. For each restaurant that you will operate (whether you are developing that restaurant or purchasing an existing restaurant from us), you also must sign a Franchise Agreement (Exhibit F-1) or a Nontraditional License Agreement (Exhibit F-2) and pay an Initial Franchise Fee. If you are establishing outlets under a Multi-Unit Development Agreement, you will be required to sign our then-current Franchise Agreement. Your receipt of this disclosure document does not mean that you will be approved as a franchisee.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Jack In The Box Franchise Disclosure Document, for each restaurant you will operate, whether you are developing it or purchasing an existing one, you must sign a Franchise Agreement or a Nontraditional License Agreement. You must also pay an Initial Franchise Fee. If you are establishing outlets under a Multi-Unit Development Agreement, you will be required to sign the then-current Franchise Agreement. Prior to being approved to develop or operate a Jack In The Box restaurant, you must complete an application package and sign a non-disclosure agreement. If you are developing a new Jack In The Box restaurant, you also must sign a Single Unit Development Agreement. If you request and Jack In The Box agrees to permit you to develop two or more Jack In The Box Restaurants in a geographic area approved by them, you must sign a Multi-Unit Development Agreement. Jack In The Box refers to the Single Unit Development Agreement and the Multi-Unit Development Agreement as the "Development Agreement".
These agreements outline the terms and conditions under which you will operate the Jack In The Box franchise. The Franchise Agreement (Exhibit F-1) or Nontraditional License Agreement (Exhibit F-2) will detail your rights and responsibilities as a franchisee, including the use of the Jack In The Box brand, operational standards, and payment of royalties. The Development Agreements (Exhibits G-1 and G-2) specify the terms for developing new restaurants, including the timeline, location, and other development obligations.
It is important to note that signing these agreements does not guarantee approval as a franchisee. Jack In The Box must approve your application and ensure that you meet their qualifications. Additionally, you should not obtain any interest in a site for a Jack In The Box restaurant until you have entered into a Development Agreement with Jack In The Box and they have approved the site in writing. This protects both you and Jack In The Box by ensuring that the location is suitable for a franchise and meets their standards.
Prospective franchisees should carefully review all agreements with legal and financial advisors to fully understand their obligations and rights. Understanding the terms of these agreements is crucial for the success and compliance of your Jack In The Box franchise.
