What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee converting their current business to an Itan Salon must receive a "Certificate of Conversion Completion" from Itan before advertising or promoting the upcoming conversion. This certificate confirms that the franchisee has met all conversion requirements outlined in the franchise agreement's addendum and fulfilled all pre-opening obligations. It also verifies that the premises are ready to operate as an Itan Salon, marking the "Conversion Date".
This requirement ensures that franchisees do not prematurely advertise the Itan brand before meeting Itan's standards. Premature advertising could negatively impact Itan's reputation if the salon is not ready to provide the expected services and experience. Itan retains control over brand representation and customer expectations by mandating this certificate.
It is important to note that the franchisee must complete the conversion by the deadline specified in Attachment B of the addendum. Furthermore, Itan will not issue the Certificate of Conversion Completion until the premises meet all required standards, the construction is approved, all equipment and signage are installed, required insurance is obtained, necessary licenses and permits are secured, the Managing Owner and general managers complete training, all due payments are made, and all other obligations are fulfilled. This comprehensive checklist protects both Itan and the franchisee by ensuring a smooth and compliant transition.
