What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are generally required to hire an architect to prepare initial design plans and detailed construction plans for their Salon. Itan must approve these plans before construction can begin, and the architect and general contractor must be appropriately licensed and bonded as required by law.

Importantly, Itan retains the right to mandate that franchisees use an architect that Itan designates or approves. This means that while franchisees typically have the freedom to select their own architect, Itan can, at its discretion, require them to use a specific architect or a pre-approved list of architects.

This requirement ensures that the Salon's design and construction adhere to Itan's standards and specifications, maintaining brand consistency across all franchise locations. While the FDD does not specify the exact conditions under which Itan might exercise this right, it is a potential restriction that franchisees should be aware of. Prospective franchisees should inquire with Itan about the specific circumstances that would trigger this requirement and whether there are any associated costs or limitations.
