What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees may be required to reimburse Itan for travel expenses incurred during inspections of their salon under specific circumstances. Itan may conduct inspections at any time, without prior notice, to ensure compliance with health, safety, and system standards.
Specifically, the franchisee is responsible for reimbursing Itan for all travel expenses and other costs associated with an inspection if the inspection is conducted to determine whether the franchisee has remedied a health or safety issue identified by a governmental authority, or a breach of system standards that Itan has brought to the franchisee's attention. In other words, if the inspection is triggered by a failure on the franchisee's part to maintain standards, the franchisee bears the cost.
However, Itan bears the cost of all other inspections. This means that routine inspections or those initiated by Itan for general oversight will not result in a reimbursement obligation for the franchisee. It is important for prospective franchisees to understand these conditions, as unreimbursed travel expenses can add to the cost of operating an Itan franchise if compliance issues arise.
