What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not required to reimburse Itan for travel expenses related to onsite training provided as part of the initial training program before the salon opens. The FDD states that while franchisees typically must reimburse Itan for travel expenses incurred when Itan provides onsite training or assistance, this obligation specifically excludes onsite training provided as part of the initial training program before the franchisee's opening date. This means Itan covers its own travel costs for this initial onsite support.
However, franchisees are responsible for their own travel expenses and wages, as well as those of their personnel, when attending any training programs. This includes the initial training program and any subsequent training or conferences. Itan may also charge training fees for instances such as retaking training, remedial training, or additional training requested by the franchisee, up to $300 per person per day.
In addition to the initial onsite training, Itan also sends a representative to the franchisee's salon for approximately five days to provide onsite training and assistance with the opening of the salon. Itan will not charge any additional fee or travel expense reimbursement for this onsite training and assistance. This is a benefit to the franchisee, as it reduces the initial financial burden of starting the franchise.
