What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, QuickBooks Online Plus is a required component of the technology systems that franchisees must purchase and use. The technology package also includes a PC computer with Microsoft Windows, an all-in-one printer/fax/copy/scanning machine, Microsoft Office 365 with SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and the Helios 12 point-of-sale system with 2 terminals.
The FDD specifies that franchisees will use QuickBooks Online Plus to perform accounting functions. The franchisor, Itan, will have independent unlimited access to the accounting data stored in QuickBooks Online Plus, as well as data stored in Microsoft 365 and the point-of-sale system. This access allows Itan to monitor the franchisee's operations and financial performance.
Itan estimates the initial cost to purchase the computer system and point-of-sale system ranges from $5,000 to $7,000. Franchisees must also pay a technology fee for certain software, technology, and related services. The licensor of QuickBooks Online will provide required maintenance and updates for QuickBooks Online Plus.
