What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if you are converting an existing business location to an Itan salon, you are required to hire a licensed and bonded architect to prepare the construction plans. The architect must ensure that the construction plans incorporate the minimum modifications and improvements outlined in Attachment C of the franchise agreement, meet all standards and specifications in Itan's manual, and comply with all applicable laws, building codes, permits, and lease requirements, including the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Itan must approve these construction plans within 90 days of the addendum's effective date. Itan's review is limited to verifying that the plans align with their system standards. Once the plans are approved, the franchisee is responsible for all expenses related to constructing and equipping the premises according to the approved plans and the specifications in the manual. This includes purchasing and installing all required signage, technology systems, equipment, fixtures, and other items, as well as incorporating all required trade dress.

During the entire construction process, the franchisee must maintain the minimum general liability and property damage insurance as specified in the manual. Before Itan issues a Certificate of Conversion Completion, they will review and approve the construction, build-out, and layout of the facility to ensure it meets all required standards and specifications. This certificate is necessary before the franchisee can cease operating the current business and begin operating as an Itan salon, utilizing Itan's intellectual property.
