What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the detailed construction plans for an Itan salon must comply with all applicable laws. Specifically, the plans must adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act, building codes, permits, and any lease requirements and restrictions applicable to the premises.
Itan requires franchisees to hire a licensed and bonded architect to prepare the initial design plans and detailed construction plans for the salon. Itan must approve the initial design plans to ensure they align with the company's system standards. The final construction plans must also be submitted to Itan for approval, with the review focused on verifying consistency with Itan's standards.
This requirement ensures that each Itan salon is built in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as Itan's brand standards. The franchisee is solely responsible for the expense of constructing and equipping the premises according to the approved plans and specifications in the manual. This includes purchasing and installing all required equipment, fixtures, signs, and other necessary items.
Compliance with these laws, codes, and standards is crucial for franchisees to obtain the necessary permits and approvals from governmental authorities, which is a prerequisite for opening the salon. Itan will not issue authorization to open until all required licenses, permits, and approvals are secured. Therefore, franchisees must ensure their construction plans meet all legal and regulatory requirements to avoid delays in opening their Itan salon.
