What is the general purpose of the computer system that Itan franchisees will use?
Itan Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
The computer system will generally be used to prepare reports, print advertising and marketing materials and communicate with us through e-mail. You will use Microsoft 365 to access email as well as the most current Operations Manual and iTAN University materials on the LMS platform. We may also use Microsoft 365 as an online collaborative area where we may upload and share marketing ideas, Local Store Marketing (LSM) tools, order forms, contact listings, monthly sales data, etc. You will use LMS to access iTAN University materials. You will use QuickBooks Online Plus to perform accounting functions.
The point-of-sale system will generally be used to record and report sales, track employee hours and performance information, track commissions, host a customer information database and perform certain marketing functions. It will also interface with the tanning beds to ensure that the sales are recorded and to verify customer identification information based on fingerprint records (i.e., to ensure a customer who purchased a membership does not send another person to receive the service).
We provide you iTAN email addresses and accounts, the cost of which is covered by the technology fee. You must exclusively use the email addresses we provide for all communications with us, customers, suppliers and other persons relating to your Salon. You may not use them for any purpose unrelated to your Salon. We will own the email addresses and accounts but allow you to use them during the term of your Franchise Agreement.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the computer system that franchisees must purchase and use will serve several key functions. Generally, it will be used for preparing reports, printing advertising and marketing materials, and communicating with Itan through email. Franchisees are required to use Microsoft 365 to access email, the most current Operations Manual, and iTAN University materials on the Learning Management System (LMS) platform. Itan may also use Microsoft 365 as an online collaborative area for sharing marketing ideas, Local Store Marketing (LSM) tools, order forms, contact listings, and monthly sales data. Franchisees will use LMS to access iTAN University materials and QuickBooks Online Plus for accounting functions.
The point-of-sale (POS) system is designed to record and report sales, track employee hours and performance, track commissions, maintain a customer information database, and perform certain marketing functions. A key feature of the POS system is its integration with the tanning beds to ensure sales are accurately recorded and to verify customer identification using fingerprint records. This is to prevent unauthorized use of memberships.
Itan provides franchisees with iTAN email addresses and accounts, with the cost covered by the technology fee. Franchisees must exclusively use these email addresses for all communications related to their salon with Itan, customers, suppliers, and other relevant parties. These email addresses cannot be used for any purpose unrelated to the salon, and Itan retains ownership of the email addresses and accounts, granting franchisees usage rights during the term of the Franchise Agreement. The technology systems that Itan franchisees must purchase include a late model PC computer with current Pro version of Microsoft Windows, an all-in-one printer/fax/copy/scanning machine, Microsoft Office 365 with SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat Reader, QuickBooks Online Plus, and Helios 12 point-of-sale system with 2 terminals.
