Are Itan general managers required to attend initial training?

Itan Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

**5.1.

Initial Training.** The Managing Owner must successfully complete our initial training program at least two (2) weeks before you open your Salon.

Your initial general managers must also attend and successfully complete the portion of initial training we designate as mandatory for general managers.

As part of initial training, we send a representative to your Salon for approximately five (5) days to provide onsite training and assist you with the opening of your Salon.

We will not charge any additional fee or Travel Expense reimbursement for this onsite training and assistance.

  • **5.2.

Post-Opening Training.** Any new Managing Owner you appoint after you Salon opens must attend and successfully complete our then-current initial training program before assuming responsibility for managing your Salon.

With our prior permission (which we will not unreasonably withhold but which we may revoke for good cause), your Managing Owner may train future general managers you hire after the Managing Owner has successfully completed our initial training program.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, general managers are required to complete training programs. Specifically, initial general managers must attend and successfully complete the portion of initial training that Itan designates as mandatory for general managers. However, after the salon opens, the Managing Owner may train general managers with Itan's permission.

This requirement ensures that general managers are properly equipped to manage the salon according to Itan's standards. The Managing Owner, who has primary responsibility for the salon's operation, must also complete all required training programs. This dual training approach, involving both the Managing Owner and the general manager, aims to maintain consistent operational quality and brand standards.

Itan retains the right to designate which parts of the initial training are mandatory for general managers, allowing them to tailor the training to the most critical aspects of the role. The Managing Owner's ability to train future general managers, with Itan's permission, provides flexibility in staffing and ongoing training. This approach balances the need for standardized training with the practicalities of managing a franchise.

Prospective franchisees should inquire about the specific content and duration of the mandatory training for general managers to fully understand the time commitment and associated costs. Understanding the scope of the training will help in budgeting and planning for staffing needs.
