For Itan franchises, are there any pieces of operating equipment that franchisees can purchase from any supplier of their choosing?

According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees have some flexibility in sourcing certain operating equipment. While Itan requires franchisees to purchase specific operating equipment that meets their standards and specifications, including tanning beds, spa equipment, and bodywraps, some of this equipment can be sourced from any supplier. However, franchisees must purchase FIT Bodywrap® exclusively from FDTC.

This means that while Itan maintains control over the quality and standards of key equipment used in the salon, franchisees are not entirely restricted to purchasing all equipment from approved or designated suppliers. This could potentially allow franchisees to find more competitive pricing or preferred vendors for certain items, offering some degree of autonomy in their purchasing decisions.

However, it's important to note that a significant portion of purchases, approximately 95% of the total purchases and leases to establish the Salon and 85% of ongoing operating expenses, will consist of source-restricted goods or services. Therefore, while some flexibility exists, the majority of purchases will still be dictated by Itan's approved supplier list. Franchisees should carefully evaluate the approved supplier list and pricing to ensure it aligns with their business plan and financial projections.
