For Itan franchises, are there any components of the Technology Systems that franchisees can purchase from any supplier of their choosing?

Itan Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Your Technology Systems (including hardware, software, equipment, software applications, mobile apps and similar items) must meet our standards and specifications. Certain components of your Technology Systems must be purchased from approved or designated suppliers while other components may be purchased from any supplier of your choosing. We may also require that certain services relating to the establishment, use, maintenance, monitoring, security or improvement of your Technology Systems be purchased from approved or designated suppliers. We currently require you to license the Helios point-of-sale system from a designated supplier. You must also license certain software that we designate.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees have some flexibility in sourcing components of their Technology Systems. While the Technology Systems (including hardware, software, equipment, software applications, mobile apps and similar items) must meet Itan's standards and specifications, certain components can be purchased from any supplier. However, other components must be purchased from approved or designated suppliers.

Itan may also require that certain services related to the establishment, use, maintenance, monitoring, security, or improvement of the Technology Systems be purchased from approved or designated suppliers. Currently, franchisees are required to license the Helios point-of-sale system from a designated supplier, as well as certain other software that Itan designates.

This means that while franchisees have some choice in where they source certain technology components, Itan retains control over key systems and services to ensure brand consistency and operational standards. Prospective franchisees should clarify with Itan which specific technology components they can source independently and what the approval process entails for non-designated suppliers.
