What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee is converting an existing business into an Itan salon, they must ensure that their architect's construction plans comply with all applicable laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, building codes, permits, and lease requirements. The franchisee is responsible for obtaining Itan's approval of these construction plans within 90 days of the addendum's effective date.

Furthermore, the franchisee bears the sole expense of constructing and equipping the premises according to the approved plans and specifications outlined in Itan's manual. This includes purchasing or leasing and installing all required signage, technology systems, equipment, fixtures, and trade dress. Throughout the construction process, the franchisee must maintain the minimum general liability and property damage insurance as specified in the manual.

This requirement ensures that all Itan locations meet legal and safety standards, protecting both the franchisee and the brand. Franchisees need to budget for these compliance costs and allocate sufficient time to obtain the necessary approvals and insurance coverage during the conversion process.
