What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, targeted marketing directed into a territory includes specific examples such as direct mail sent to addresses within that territory, digital advertising targeted to devices with IP addresses registered in the territory, and promotional events conducted within the territory. This means Itan franchisees can focus their marketing efforts on reaching potential customers specifically located within their designated area. However, the exact definition of 'targeted marketing' may be further clarified in Itan's operations manual.
Itan also requires franchisees to obtain approval for all advertising and marketing programs and materials, including the media used. Itan has 10 business days to review and either approve or disapprove the submitted materials; failure to respond within this timeframe constitutes disapproval. Any advertising proposed by the franchisee and approved by Itan is considered an 'Improvement'.
Itan will set up an Instagram account for the franchisee's salon, but Itan retains ownership of the account. Franchisees must adhere to Itan's social media policy, obtain approval for all content before posting, and remove any posts that Itan disapproves, even if previously approved. Itan also has the right to require franchisees to contract with a social media company designated by Itan. These stipulations highlight the level of control Itan maintains over marketing and advertising efforts, particularly in the digital space.
