What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Itan's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must make several changes and modifications before opening their salon. The franchisee must complete the construction and conversion of the premises to comply with Itan's standards and specifications in the manual. This includes re-imaging, remodeling, renovating, refurbishing, and modernizing the premises at the franchisee's sole expense. Itan may limit the required remodeling to painting and lightweight items to limit the required conversion costs. The franchisee must hire a licensed and bonded architect to prepare construction plans that incorporate minimum modifications and improvements, satisfy standards in the manual, and comply with all laws.
Before opening, the franchisee must obtain Itan's written authorization. Itan will not issue authorization until the Managing Owner completes the initial training program, all required licenses, permits, and approvals are obtained from Governmental Authorities, all required insurance policies are purchased and evidence of coverage is provided, and Itan reviews and approves the construction, build-out, and layout of the salon. The franchisee must also fulfill all other pre-opening obligations under the agreement and the manual.
Prior to opening the salon, the franchisee must send Itan a written notice identifying the proposed opening date at least 30 days before opening. Itan may also conduct a pre-opening inspection of the salon and require the franchisee to make changes and modifications before opening. These steps ensure that the Itan salon adheres to the brand's standards and legal requirements before commencing operations.
