Does Hyper Kidz anticipate the capacity restrictions implemented due to COVID-19 to become permanent?

Hyper_Kidz Franchise · 2024 FDD

Answer from 2024 FDD Document

In December 2019, a novel strain of coronavirus was reported in Wuhan, China. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a pandemic. In response, many states implemented measures to combat the outbreak including, but not limited to, temporarily closing businesses. The franchised location and the affiliate owned locations temporarily closed at this time. The locations have since opened at 50% capacity. The Company does not anticipate the capacity restrictions to become permanent and no impairments have been recorded as of the balance sheet date; however, the Company will continue to monitor the situation. The Company's results of operations, cash flows, and financial condition could continue to be negatively impacted, however the extent of the impact cannot be reasonably estimated at this time.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Hyper Kidz's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the company does not anticipate that the capacity restrictions put in place due to COVID-19 will become permanent. The document states that while the franchised and affiliate-owned locations temporarily closed and later reopened at 50% capacity, Hyper Kidz is monitoring the situation and has not recorded any impairments on their balance sheet related to this.

However, the FDD also acknowledges that the pandemic could continue to negatively impact Hyper Kidz's operations, cash flow, and overall financial condition. The extent of this potential impact cannot be reasonably estimated at this time. This indicates that while Hyper Kidz is optimistic that capacity restrictions will not be permanent, there is still uncertainty regarding the long-term effects of the pandemic on the business.

For a prospective franchisee, this means that while Hyper Kidz believes the business will return to normal operations, there are still potential risks associated with the ongoing impact of COVID-19. It would be prudent to inquire about the specific strategies Hyper Kidz has in place to mitigate these risks and support franchisees during any continued periods of reduced capacity or other pandemic-related challenges. Understanding these strategies will be crucial in assessing the overall viability and potential profitability of a Hyper Kidz franchise.
