What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must obtain approval and open their Hydrodog business within 30 days of receiving their Hydrodog Vehicle. However, this requirement is subject to potential extensions if unforeseen circumstances or factors beyond the franchisee's control arise; such extensions are granted at Hydrodog's discretion. Failure to open the business within the stipulated timeframe, or any granted extension, may result in the termination of the Franchise Agreement.

This 30-day window places a significant emphasis on efficient pre-opening preparations. Franchisees must ensure all necessary steps, such as site approval, training completion, fee payments, and acquisition of required tools and insurance, are expedited to meet the deadline. The possibility of needing an extension highlights the importance of proactive planning and communication with Hydrodog regarding any potential delays.

This requirement is fairly standard in the franchise industry, as franchisors want to ensure a quick return on investment for both the franchisee and themselves. However, franchisees should carefully consider whether 30 days is a realistic timeframe given the potential for delays in vehicle delivery, permitting, and other factors. It would be prudent to discuss potential extension scenarios with Hydrodog during the due diligence phase to fully understand the flexibility and support available.

Prospective franchisees should also note that Hydrodog retains the right to terminate the Franchise Agreement if the business does not open on time, underscoring the importance of adhering to the established timelines and maintaining open communication with the franchisor.
