Does the Hydrodog veteran discount apply to subsequent franchise purchases?
Hydrodog Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
If (i) you are a veteran, (ii) your spouse is a veteran or on active duty, (iii) your biological mother or father is a veteran or on active duty, (iv) your spouse's biological mother or father is a veteran or on active duty, (v) your child is a veteran or on active duty, or (vi) the shareholders, members, or partners owning at least 51% of franchised business are veterans then we will discount our initial franchise fee for your first HydroDog franchise by 15%. This discount applies solely to the Franchise Fee for your first franchise and does not apply to any Additional Territory Fees, subsequent franchise purchases, or any other fees or charges under the Franchise Agreement. "Veteran" means honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Navy,
Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard or SpaceForce and can provide proof of veteran or military status by providing a DD214 or military orders. A child is defined as a biological child or a legally adopted child.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the veteran's discount on the initial franchise fee does not extend to subsequent franchise purchases. The initial franchise fee for a territory with a population of up to 150,000 is $40,000. Hydrodog offers a 15% discount on this initial franchise fee to veterans, their spouses, parents, or children who are veterans or on active duty, or if at least 51% of the franchised business is owned by veterans.
However, this discount is specifically limited to the first Hydrodog franchise purchased. It does not apply to any additional territory fees, subsequent franchise purchases, or any other fees or charges under the Franchise Agreement. This means that if a veteran chooses to invest in additional Hydrodog franchises beyond the first one, they will be required to pay the full initial franchise fee for each subsequent franchise.
This policy is fairly common in the franchise industry, as many franchisors offer initial discounts to encourage veterans to join their system but do not extend the discount to multiple units. Prospective franchisees who qualify for the Hydrodog veteran's discount should factor this into their long-term investment plans if they are considering opening multiple locations. Understanding the limitations of the discount is crucial for accurate financial planning and decision-making.
