What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Hydrodog states that there are no known infringing uses of its copyrighted materials that could materially affect a franchisee's use of these materials in any state. These copyrighted materials encompass all copyrightable elements of the Hydrodog system. This includes the operations manual, website, communications, training materials, advertising, and other written materials used to run a HydroDog Business.
Hydrodog also asserts its intention to protect and defend its copyrights and confidential information when it is in the best interest of the System, but it is not obligated to do so. This means that while Hydrodog aims to safeguard its intellectual property, franchisees should be aware that Hydrodog is not contractually bound to participate in a franchisee's legal defense or provide indemnity for copyright-related proceedings.
This aspect of the franchise agreement places a degree of risk on the franchisee. Should a copyright dispute arise, the franchisee may need to bear the costs of defense independently.
