Answer from 2025 FDD Document

    1. The Initial Training Fee covers our expenses in providing training to you. If you choose to bring additional trainees then you will incur an additional Initial Training Fee per person. You will still be responsible for your travel and living expenses. Any training required beyond the initial training will be at your expense and will incur additional fees.
    1. Additional Funds is an estimate of the funds needed to cover business (not personal) expenses during the first 3 months of operation of your HydroDog Business.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for their own travel and living expenses during the initial training. While the initial training fee covers Hydrodog's costs for providing the training, any expenses related to the franchisee's travel, accommodation, and meals are separate. If a franchisee chooses to bring additional trainees, they will incur an additional initial training fee per person, and they will still be responsible for the travel and living expenses of those additional trainees.

Furthermore, if a prospective franchisee does not meet Hydrodog's standards in the skills assessment, they will be required to attend a dog grooming academy of Hydrodog's choosing, and this will be at the franchisee's own expense, prior to the initial training. Any training required beyond the initial training will also be at the franchisee's expense and will incur additional fees.

This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, where the franchisor covers the direct costs of the training program itself, but the franchisee is responsible for getting themselves and their staff to the training location and covering their personal expenses. Prospective Hydrodog franchisees should factor these travel and living expenses into their initial investment calculations.
