What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the cost of the Initial Tools Package ranges from $0 to $2,500. The actual cost depends on whether the franchisee has existing grooming experience. If a franchisee has less than 5 years of grooming experience or is not a certified groomer, they must pay Hydrodog $2,500 for the Initial Tools Package. This package is customized for each franchisee based on the tools they need.

The Initial Tools Package fee is due in a lump sum at the time of signing the Franchise Agreement. This fee is considered fully earned and is non-refundable upon payment. This means that even if the franchisee does not open for business or terminates the franchise agreement, the $2,500 will not be returned.

For those with sufficient grooming experience, the cost may be $0, but this is contingent on passing a skills assessment administered by Hydrodog. If the franchisee fails to meet the required standards in the skills assessment, they will be required to attend a dog grooming academy of Hydrodog's choosing, at their own expense, before initial training. This could add a significant, unstated cost to the initial investment, in addition to the potential $2,500 for the tool package if grooming experience is lacking.
