What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must purchase or lease their Hydrodog Vehicle exclusively from Hydrodog or its Approved Suppliers. The vehicle must match the make, model, and year specified by Hydrodog and must be outfitted and painted according to the colors and specifications provided by them.
This requirement ensures uniformity and consistency across all Hydrodog franchises, maintaining brand standards and recognition. By mandating that franchisees acquire their vehicles from approved sources, Hydrodog can control the quality and appearance of the mobile grooming units, which are essential to the brand's image.
If a franchisee chooses to lease their Hydrodog Vehicle, they must either purchase a new vehicle or enter into a new lease that adheres to Hydrodog's current requirements upon the expiration of the lease. This ensures that all vehicles in operation meet the brand's standards and specifications, regardless of whether they are owned or leased. This also gives Hydrodog the ability to ensure the vehicles are up to date with any changes to the brand's image.
This requirement is fairly common in the franchise industry, particularly for mobile or vehicle-based franchises, where the appearance and functionality of the vehicle are integral to the business. Prospective franchisees should carefully consider the costs associated with purchasing or leasing the vehicle, as well as any ongoing requirements for maintenance, upgrades, or replacements, as these can impact the overall profitability of the franchise.
