What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Customer Account Transfer Fee is due 'As Agreement'. This means the due date is determined by the agreement reached between the Hydrodog franchisee who is transferring the account and the Hydrodog franchisee who is acquiring the account.
The amount of the Customer Account Transfer Fee is also 'An amount agreed upon by the parties'. The FDD specifies that if a customer account is identified by Hydrodog as belonging to another franchisee's territory, a franchisee may request to purchase the rights to serve that customer. The other franchisee is under no obligation to sell. If the franchisee agrees to sell the rights to the customer account, they must respond in writing, and the purchasing franchisee will pay a transfer fee in an amount mutually agreed upon by both parties.
This arrangement provides flexibility, as the fee and payment terms are not fixed by Hydrodog but negotiated between the franchisees involved. However, it also introduces uncertainty, as the franchisee seeking to acquire the customer account must negotiate a mutually acceptable price and payment schedule with the other franchisee. Prospective franchisees should consider this when evaluating the potential costs and benefits of acquiring existing customer accounts from other Hydrodog franchisees.
