What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the company uses, promotes, and licenses specific copyrighted materials in the operation of its HydroDog Businesses. These copyrighted materials encompass information that can be rendered into tangible form. This includes a range of documents and materials such as spreadsheets, pro forma documents, forms, marketing materials, manuals, pricing lists, vendor lists, product and service offering menus, formulas, advertisements, and the Hydrodog website. The copyright also extends to any other written materials, marketing materials, or advertisements, including their overall look, compilation, feel, and content.

For a prospective Hydrodog franchisee, understanding the scope of these copyrights is crucial. It means that all of these listed materials are protected and cannot be reproduced, distributed, or modified without Hydrodog's explicit permission. This protection ensures brand consistency and prevents unauthorized use of Hydrodog's proprietary information.

The franchisee must adhere to using only the approved and provided materials in their business operations. Unauthorized use of copyrighted materials could lead to legal repercussions and potential termination of the franchise agreement. Therefore, franchisees should familiarize themselves with the specific copyrighted materials and ensure compliance with Hydrodog's guidelines.

This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as franchisors need to protect their brand identity and operational methods. By controlling the use of copyrighted materials, Hydrodog maintains uniformity across all franchise locations and safeguards its intellectual property.
