Is a certificate of completion from the HydroDog Academy required for operational approval of the Business?
Hydrodog Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
You and your trainees must successfully complete the HydroDog Academy, as determined in our sole discretion, prior to opening your Business (as described in Section 7.3 of the Franchise Agreement). This includes successfully passing all required assessments designed to evaluate comprehension of training topics. Upon successful completion of the training program and passing of all assessments, you and your trainees will receive a certificate of completion, which may be required for operational approval of your Business.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Hydrodog's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees and their trainees must successfully complete the HydroDog Academy, including passing all required assessments, before opening their business. Upon completion, they will receive a certificate. While the certificate of completion may be required for operational approval, the FDD does not explicitly state that it is definitively required.
To open a HydroDog Business, several conditions must be met. These include HydroDog's approval of the business's development, completion of training to HydroDog's satisfaction, payment of the franchise fee, acquisition of the HydroDog Vehicle, receipt of the Initial Tools Package, and approval of the business's managers if the franchisee is a business entity. Additionally, the franchisee must demonstrate that all pre-opening conditions of the Franchise Agreement have been met, furnish copies of all required insurance policies, and provide signed documents related to the HydroDog Vehicle acquisition.
The franchisee must obtain HydroDog's approval and open the business within 30 days after receiving the HydroDog Vehicle, unless unforeseen circumstances warrant an extension, which is granted at HydroDog's discretion. Failure to open within the required time, without an approved extension, may result in termination of the Franchise Agreement. Prospective franchisees should confirm with HydroDog whether the certificate of completion is definitively required for operational approval.
